The birth of virtuoso pianist Vladimir Horowitz (1 October 1904) is observed through a recording of Schumann's Kinderszenen. Also born on this day, Julie Andrews (1935) is fêted with selections from The Sound of Music, as well as some of the original Trapp family's recorded heritage.
